Since 1906, the Builders Association has served Chicagoland's construction industry with the help of many community leaders and a roster of members that puts the focus not only on great buildings, but doing great things in our communities.
We're proud to announce the recipients of our Community Builder and Corporate Citizenship Awards, to be conferred at our Annual Meeting Thursday, December 15 at the Trump International Hotel & Tower:
Community Builder Award winner Boyd Black of the University of Chicago. In addition to being a strong proponent of lean construction and environmentally sound building practices, Mr. Black has helped to oversee an unprecedented surge in building at U of C's Hyde Park Campus and is President of the Construction Owners Association of America.
Boyd is AVP of Capital Project Delivery at Chicago, having joined the staff in 2008 after managing design and construction for the University of Illinois. He is a member of the AGC of America's Industry Advisory Council, the U.S. Green Building Council and the AIA's Center for Integrated Practice Leadership Committee. Boyd has a bachelor's in architecture from Iowa State University, a master's in management from Northwestern and has over 30 years of experience as a registered architect.
Corporate Citizenship Award winner Airtite Contractors. Airtite is being honored for its philanthropic efforts, contributions to organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and empowering its employees to make a difference in other areas.
Corporate Citizenship Award winner Industria, Inc. Industria is being recognized for its active participation in efforts to provide career opportunities for military veterans, such as Helmets To Hardhats.
